Description: With more than 500 fellowships awarded since 1994, the Gilder Lehrman Institute offers short-term research fellowships to doctoral candidates, postdoctoral scholars, college and university faculty at every rank, and independent scholars working in American history. In 2014, up to ten fellowships of $3,000 each will be awarded to scholars to conduct research within the archival holdings of any institution in the five boroughs of New York City.

2014 SAWISE Hope Scholarship for Female Students Studying in African UniversitiesFemale students entering their Honours level/4th year of study in African Tertiary Institutions can now apply for the SAWISE Hope Scholarship for 2014 sponsored by the Association of South African Women in Science and  Engineering (SAWISE) and The Hope Network.

The scholarship which is a one year, full-time study scholarship, is Tenable in any of the following universities:

  • University of Cape Town,
  • University of Johannesburg,
  • University of Kwazulu-Natal,
  • University of Pretoria,
  • University of Stellenbosch,
  • University of the Witwatersrand,
  • University of the Western Cape

Worth of Awards: The scholarship is  valued at  R10 000

Eligibility: The scholarship is open to:

  • Female students entering their Honours degree/4th year of study
  •  with an academic average of over 65%,
  • pursuing study in the areas of science and engineering (medical fields included).

Candidates must exhibit:

  • outstanding personal qualities and a strong desire to make a contribution to their respective fields and to society at large.
  • Candidates must be South African.
  •  Preference will be given to a candidate experiencing financial difficulty or distress.

Commonwealth International Scholarship in South Africa.Description: The commonwealth scholarship allows successful applicant to study the course of their choice in any of the following university; Central University of Technology, Durban University of Technology, Tshwane University of Technology, University of Johannesburg, University of Pretoria and University of Stellenbosch in South Africa.

Eligible Field of Study: Scholarships are provided to study any subject as offered by the listed universities, except for the Central University of Technology, where priority will be given to applicants in Tourism and/or Hospitality Management, Education, Biomedical Technology, Engineering and ICT.

About Scholarship: This is one of the numerous scholarship programs sponsored by the funds allocated for the  Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan, it covers majorly the academic expenses of successful applicants for the duration of their program. Highly competitive as the number of applicants is high considering the number of applicants from developing country, there are no special consideration to applicants, as the previous academic result is the major yard stick for choosing successful candidates.
