Eligibility
(A). Undergraduate Scholarship

  • All applicants for undergraduate degree courses must possess a minimum qualification of Five (5) Distinctions (As & Bs) in the Senior Secondary School Certificate, WAEC or NECO (May/June) only in the subjects relevant to their field of study including English language and Mathematics.
  • Certificates should not be more than Two (2) years old (2012 or 2013)
  • Age limit is 22 years.

(B). Postgraduate Scholarship

  • All applicants must hold a First Degree with at least 2nd Class Upper Division.
  • The applicants who are previous recipients of Foreign Awards must have completed at least Two (2) years post qualification or employment practice in Nigeria.
  • A knowledge of the Foreign language of the donor country is desired particularly for those applying for Russian Award.
  • All applicants must have completed NYSCE.
  • Age limit is 35 years for Masters and 40 years for Ph.D.

Note: (For all Applicants): Knowledge of the language of the country of choice is an added advantage.

Eligible Groups: Citizens of Nigeria ONLY.

Participating Institutions: All accredited institutions of higher learning in the participating countries that have Bilateral Educational Agreements (BEA) with Nigeria.

The Participating Countries Include:

  • Undergraduate (UG) studies: tenable in Russia, Cuba, Morocco, Algeria, Romania, Ukraine, Turkey, Egypt, Japan, Serbia, Macedonia.
  • Postgraduate (PG) studies: tenable in Russia, China, Turkey, Japan, Serbia, Mexico, etc.

Fields of Study:

  1. Undergraduate Level: Medicine, Paramedical, Engineering, Geology, Agriculture, Sciences, Mathematics, Languages, Environmental Sciences, Sports, Law, Social Sciences, etc
  2. Postgraduate Level (Masters Degree and Ph.D): all fields

Note: Awardees study the language of the country in their first Year and this constitutes the language of instruction throughout their study.

It is pertinent to state that performance in the language course determines the continuation of the course of study for which the award has been made.

Number of Awards: Not specified, but several would be awarded

Sponsorship Duration: The duration of the scholarship offer ranges from 4 – 9 years depending on the level of study and the country.

Scholarship benefits: The participating countries (see above) are responsible for the tuition and accommodation, while Nigeria government takes care of the following;

  • $500 monthly for supplementation
  • $250 yearly for warm clothing
  • $200 yearly for Health Insurance
  • $500 yearly for medical scholars only
  • $1000 for PG research grant yearly were applicable
  • N100,000 – Take off for PG scholars were applicable
  • N60,000 – Take off for UG scholars were applicable

  3. Statement of results must be confirmed by WAEC or NECO and forwarded to the Director/ Secretary, Federal Scholarship Board, Abuja.
  4. Two copies of Birth Certificate.
  5. State of Origin Certificate duly signed, stamped and dated.
  6. Eight (8) passport sized colour photographs on white background
  7. Data page of current International Passport, and
  8. Academic transcripts and NYSC certificate will be required from applicants for postgraduate studies.

The Honorable Minister of Education, hereby invites applications from qualified Nigerian students in Nigerian public tertiary institutions to participate in the 2012/2013 selection interviews for scholarship awards tenable in Nigeria tertiary institutions.

Eligibility
I. Undergraduate, HND & NCE Scholarship: All applicants should be registered full–time students in their second year or above in recognized Federal and State Universities, Polytechnics, Monotechnics and Colleges of Education. They should also obtain a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.0 on a 5 point scale, or its equivalent in the previous academic year’s examinations.

II. Postgraduate scholarship: Applicants must be registered full–time students of recognized Federal and State owned universities and must have a minimum of second class Honors (upper division) in 1st degrees.

Eligible groups: All students of Nigerian origin

Participating Institutions: All approved Nigerian tertiary institutions

Fields of study: All courses, both at Undergraduate and Postgraduate Levels, offered at Nigerian tertiary institutions

Scholarship benefits: This is a Full Fee scholarship award

Method of Application: Application forms are available online at www.fsb.gov.ng (see active link below) and can be filled and printed by prospective candidates for endorsement by their HOD and Registrars of their institutions.

Federal Scholarship Board offers Bilateral Educational Agreement (BEA) scholarship for Nigerian students under the Federal Government scholarship scheme. The scholarship is offered for undergraduate and postgraduate program ranges from 4- 9 years depending on the level of study and the country. 

About Scholarship: Bilateral Educational Agreement (BEA) Awards are scholarship awards made to eligible Nigerian youths after due process by development partners who have entered into Bilateral Educational agreement with Nigeria. These offers could be at the Undergraduate or Post Graduate or both levels as the case may be.

The duration of the scholarship offer ranges from 4- 9 years depending on the level of study and the country. In Bilateral Educational Agreement countries, Awardees study the language of the country in their first Year and this constitutes the language of instruction throughout their study.

It is pertinent to state that performance in the language course determines the continuation of the course of study for which the award has been made. 

Study: Undergraduate level – medicine, paramedical, engineering, geology, agriculture, sciences, mathematics, languages, environmental sciences, sports, law, social sciences, etc. Postgraduate level (master’s degree and PhD) in all fields.

Location: Bilateral Educational Agreement (BEA) Scholarship Award tenable in Russia, China, Morocco, Turkey, Algeria, Romania, Serbia, Japan, Ukraine, Cuba, Greece, Czech Republic, Syria, Macedonia, Mexico, Egypt, Tunisia etc. 

Eligibility:

Postgraduate Applicants should:

-Possess university degree with a minimum of Second Class Honours Upper  Division

-Should not be more than 35 years of Age at the time of taking up the award

-Possess a certificate obtained not more than 5 year at date of application

-Possess NYSC/Exemption certificate (where applicable)

-Should have not less than two (2) years post qualification experience

-Should provide willingness of employer to release applicant (where applicable)

Undergraduate:

-Candidate must possess at least A or B grades in five relevant subjects including English and Mathematics at one sitting.

-Qualifying Certificate – (WASC or NECO) only.

-Candidate must be between 17-23 years old at the time of taking up the award.

-Certificate must not be more than 3 years old at time of application.

NOTE: All applicants Undergraduate and Post Graduate should provide Medical Certificate of Fitness from a government hospital (including HIV/Hepatitis B free examination result) and Police Clearance Certificate including finger prints.

Scholarship Open for: Nigerian students can apply for the scholarship. 

Duration: The duration of the scholarship offer ranges from 4- 9 years depending on the level of study and the country.

Value: These countries are responsible for the tuition and accommodation, while Nigeria government takes care of the following;

-$500 monthly for supplementation

-$250 yearly for warm clothing

-$200 yearly for Health Insurance

-$500 yearly for medical scholars only

-$1000 for PG research grant yearly was applicable

-N100, 000 – Take off for PG scholars were applicable

-N60, 000 – Take off for UG scholars were applicable.
